The Code Of Champions

“Transformation is the agenda of meek spirits, who are enthusiastic about their passions in life. These are people who inspire other people. They are the champions of life. And the world sorely needs them.”

The Code of Champions articulates six secrets to living a life of no regrets. Living them “separates the men from the boys.”

The 6 Secrets

  1.  Champs CULTIVATE CHARACTER.  They remain faithful to their principles even when no one is around.
  2. Champs HAVE A HEART. They nurture their intimacies not only to satisfy their own needs , but to be able to give themselves more effectively to the bigger community.
  3. Champs AIM FOR A MISSION. They find their meaning, mooring, and motivation around their mission.
  4. Champs MAINTAIN BALANCE. They attend to all areas of their lives; and define what success is really for them personally.
  5. Champs PRIORITIZE THE SPIRIT. They live lives accountable to a higher being with whom no pretense can stand.
  6. Champs STAY THE COURSE. They commit themselves to their winning lifestyles, no matter what.

1st Secret of a Champion: Cultivate Character

An excerpt from the book The Code Of Champions – Cultivate Character:

You will know a champion. People trust him. This is the basic ingredient of life. Everything starts with trust; nothing lasts without trust. With trust you get things done; without trust nothing gets done, and what was done could easily get unraveled. The champion’s credibility precedes him. And credibility is the face of one’s character. He stands on the side of right. Always. Warren Buffet, the business wizards says, “I look for three things when hiring people. The first is personal integrity, the second is intelligence, and the third is a high energy level. But if you don’t have the first, the other two will kill you.”

2nd Secret of a Champion: Have A Heart

An excerpt from the book The Code Of Champions – Have A Heart:

You will know a champion. Working with him is a joy. He comes across as a friend because deep inside he truly cares for others. And you can feel it. Concern is not a duty to be complied with; it is his motivation for action. He gets out of his comfy bubble to get things done, ever generous with his best yet devoid of a personal agenda. His one desire is the success of others. You can feel his sincerity. He nurtures connections with others — not to polish this reputation — but to inspire and empower them to reach for a common mission that will spell the common good. This creates a strong sense of mutual openness. Everyone wants to be on his team.

3rd Secret of a Champion: Aim For A Mission

An excerpt from the book The Code Of Champions – Aim For A Mission:

You will know a champion. He inspires. He lives a purposeful life; he has clearly laid out that which he could be and do, the pursuit of which ignites his passion. But he could also be resilient when it comes to the pursuit of his dreams. He too knows what does not belong to him and he would not allow such bright shiny objects to zap him dry of his energies. Simply said, he knows his reason to get up every morning.

The American Philosopher Peter Koestenbaum in his article “Do You Have The Will To Lead? asserted, “Unless the distant goals of meaning, greatness, and destiny are addressed, we can’t make an intelligent decision about what to do tomorrow morning — much less set strategy for a company or for a human life.”

The champion inspires the rest of us because he refused to live the superficiality of our half-truths and cozy strategies of living. Mary Piper, a clinical psychologist observes, “Girls are caught in the crossfire of our culture’s mixed sexual message. Sex is considered both a sacred act between two people united by God and the best way to sell suntan lotion.” It’s not just sex; everything seems to be peddled around today dressed in half-truths because that is what is comfortable and conformable to us. End result? Split lives. Confused vision. Abandoned dreams.
